  • What people are saying about this course

This training has been of a huge use in my job role, I have learnt alot and there is so much I can take forward in my career. Thank you so much!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the course and found the resources and information extremely useful. Will definitely be using the knowledge in my setting.

A really useful experience that MAKES you take time out to think through ASC. I gained so much from it.

This course has given me a way forward in educating the staff and pupils within the school environment. Lots of practical activities and resources given, this will be used to enable all of our school to develop a greater understanding, and more importantly, acceptance regarding ASC. Thank you again.

Thank you! Personal help and advice was very much appreciated!

Every teacher needs to have this training.

I found the whole online learning experience very good. It was difficult to be 'live' sometimes with the seminars so the advantage of listening to them later at a time I could fit them in was great. The course tutor was excellent. I shall be using all of the information continually in the future and I still have some articles on the reading list to keep my learning growing.

Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge and for encouraging me. I have learned so much that already helps me on a daily basis. I feel you have provided direction for building on that knowledge in the future. What helps us is so important because it in turn helps the children we teach.

I thoroughly enjoyed this online course. The seminars were well prepared and the course handouts were a huge help when completing the tasks. Emails and any questions asked were always responded to promptly. I will definitely sign up for future courses with Literacy Matters!

Thank you - it's been such a help! I've shared so much with my Inclusion Manager. There's so much we are putting in place and not just for children with autism but across the board as well. Thanks again I've really enjoyed working with you.

Great to be able to access the seminars at a time to suit. The work content was very manageable, thank you. The web addresses have been most useful along with the resource lists. A really big thank you for allowing me to experience Welcome to Holland and from that Temple Grandin.

Thanks a lot to course organizers! It has been a valuable experience. Even though I have joined this course very late I still have learned a lot.

DFE Standards for Teachers' Professional Development

Professional development should have a clear focus on improving and evaluating pupil outcomes

We have clearly outlined course outcomes and goals and evaluate participants’ prior knowledge in order to ensure progression. Course tasks are designed to help participants evaluate impact on themselves, their school and the pupils.

Professional development should be underpinned by robust evidence and expertise

Course content is developed in line with current thinking and is thoroughly researched by our expert tutors. Course tasks are designed not only to fit in around participants day to day teaching, but also to link teacher practice to pupil experiences and outcomes. Task feedback and support is given to reinforce impact evaluation of teachers practice and the wider implication for pupils and the school. All our courses are independently evaluated to ensure intended outcomes and quality.

Professional development should include collaboration and expert challenge

Our eLearning environment and the content of the seminars and tasks is structured to encourage participants collaboration, tutor support and to challenge existing methods in order to develop more informed practice and better pupil outcomes.

Professional development programmes should be sustained over time

The online delivery and course models we use in our training ensures content and the learning experience is delivered over a period of time. Support and Mentoring is available throughout the duration of the course and course materials and seminars are available for an extended period after the course finishes.

Professional development must be prioritised by school leadership

The course outcomes outlined in our Individual Learner Plans help participants plan and collaborate with leaders in order to develop on-going professional development strategies and plans. Our tasks and course feedback provides evidence to show school leaders and to provide forward planning for participants professional development and practices.
