Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Steps to take to become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant:
  1. get the support of your headteacher or line manager
  2. establish whether you require training or are ready for preparation
  3. apply for funding from your Local Authority (LA)
  4. if necessary attend the training course
  5. attend a preparation course
  6. undertake assessment

To apply for HLTA status you need to meet the minimum literacy and numeracy requirements.
