In the early stages of the Literacy Strategy the following structure was recommeded:
Whole class teaching:
15 Minutes text level work
15 minutes sentence or word level work
Group work: 20 minutes
Plenary: 10 minutes
Recent further guidance in the Grammar for Writing and Developing Early Writing publications suggests a slightly different format for whole class work.
